Today’s gadgets are longed for, saved for and strived for. I’m afraid I remember the days of the “Brick sized mobile phone”. The feeling of the time was that walking around with a mobile phone meant you were a complete poseur and just showing off. They were large and didn’t work that well. After a quarter of a century the Electronic Components have been refined, the gadgets reduced in size and no-one’s accused of “posing” any more.
But mobile phones are the tip of an incredibly large iceberg. The electronic gadgets today range from digital cameras, Computers, Laptops, DVD Players, DVDs themselves – not to mention the iPad, Kindle and electronic pianos. A list of all the recent innovations brought to us in the last few years alone would be never ending.
Electronics must not be confused with electrical science and technology. Electrical science consists of switching and generating electrical energy using wires and motors.
Electronic devices use things called “semiconductor electrical components”. If you design electronic circuits you are to be called an Electronics Engineer. Whoever or what ever makes these everyday gadgets, most of us are grateful.
In my opinion there will not be a kick back. I think the electronic gadget is here to stay. I, for one am looking forward to 3D TV. It would be good if someone could get rid of those awful looking glasses. My husband does NOT look like Clark Kent in them! I am also hoping to be around for when you just order your house to do something like “Hoover – now!” Some people may wish to simplify their lives and “go green”, but I think most of us will take great pleasure in “the next big thing” for a very long time.
